12 hours, 12 topics, 12 pictures, 1 unforgettable day.
June 7, 2015
A huge thank you – and congratulations – to everyone who took part in this year’s Photomarathon. It was wonderful to see so many of you gather yesterday morning ready to test your powers of creativity and imagination in all corners of the city.
The weather held well – though we also enjoyed the way you all embraced you new windswept looks as the day wore on. You coped with the 60,000 One Direction fans filling the streets of Cardiff and one or two struggles with city centre traffic, but once again, we were hugely impressed by your levels of energy and enthusiasm. Particularly impressed to see some of you clocking up well over ten miles on foot (almost a Photo-Half-Marathon?).
We’ve spent today checking through the images, and preparing them for the judges process. That’ll take place over the next few weeks, before a special private opening of the exhibition at the Capitol Shopping Centre on the evening of Friday June 26 – to which all entrants will be invited. The exhibition will then open to the public on the morning of Saturday June 27th until Saturday July 11th. Entry will be free and opening hours will be 11am to 5pm.
In the meantime, some of our entrants have posted their images to the Photomarathon 2015 flickr group. Well worth a look.
So, take the next few days to recover, give you feet and minds a rest, and we look forward to seeing you all again later this month.
